The 45-minute class will meet weekly throughout the year and expose your children to a variety of musical concepts and styles through song, movement and instrument play. Parents and Caregivers will have just as much fun as the kids, and by participating you will serve as positive musical role models (even if you don't have much musical experience!). Continuing our classroom activities at home reinforces the skills we will be building, and also provides a rich musical environment in which each child can develop in his or her own way. Children will benefit from the Mixed-Age format of the class by learning from one another and exploring at their own personal level. Special emphasis will be placed on Dalcroze techniques, and Parents and Children alike will gain a deeper understanding of rhythm, pitch and general coordination by using our entire bodies to make Music. Each Trimester will feature a new collection of songs from all over the globe, as well as Christian tunes and traditional American favorites. Special attention will be paid to matching pitch and keeping a steady beat in our bodies - skills that everyone at any age can benefit from!
Acting Adventures (Ages 5-7)
Tuesdays 3.15PM to 4.15PM at Calvary Baptist Church
$950 for 30 classes
Does your child love to sing, dance, play make-believe or tell silly stories? Does she love being the center of attention, or does he need a little extra boost of self-confidence? Acting Adventures is the perfect after school activity for them! Each Tuesday afternoon we will spend an hour learning how to use our bodies and voices just like actors do: children will develop their "Stage Voice" and "Singing Voice", explore theater games and improvisation, learn basic stage directions and begin some choreography. Through popular Broadway songs and traditional stories, even the shiest child will start to come out of their shell as they take the stage and become a character. The culmination of each trimester will be a short skit that the children can help create. Parental attendance is not necessary for this class, but occasionally children will need a Parent help practice at home.
